With so many Article Directires out there if you choose only five to use which ones would you choose?

dondada pretty much nailed it, but you might also want to consider sites like Squidoo and Hubpages, which although they can be a pain the ass sometimes, tend to rank pretty highly. Make sure you submit to ezinearticles first though as they usually prefer content that hasn't been submitted elsewhere. Simon
I have to agree with Simon and dondada, you may want to submit first to ezine, particularly because they are the biggest and have hundreds of articles submitted daily. And although you mentioned that you want to submit only to the top five, think about submitting to other sites. Of course this does not mean to submit to every single directory, but limiting yourself is limiting the amount of quality backlinks you can have. Make sure the directories have high PR.
The PR of a high PR directory doesn't translate to your article. It is completely diluted by your copublishers. You need to use a directory that drives traffic to your article.
My top recommendations would be ezinearticles, articlesbase, goarticles and articlecity. Hope this helps.
