This is my first post. Is there an overall consensus on which area of internet marketing is easiest and most lucrative for a newbie such as myself to get into? I do have blog which I set up recently but I'm not focusing on any specific areas at this point. Thanks, Sean
Also, am I allowed to post the link to my blog in a post, or do the rules that apply to signatures, also apply to my site link?
Making money online is one. That's what my blog is about. I might be willing to trade links also. Basically, write what you know most about. That is what will get you the most popularity and money. -Ryu
I would try and focus your blog on something specific do some research in to the areas which you are interested in by this i mean keyword research try to find out if there is much traffic and interest in that market see if the market is saturated see if you can do things a bit differently. If you find an area you are interested in it will benefit you extremely, within your writing styles and the information which you provide. Will.
Write about something you know - the last thing - the VERY LAST THING - the internet needs is another 'how to make money online' blog from someone who has never made a penny, or another 'SEO blog' from someone who can't even spell Google.
I would say bum marketing. Try writing at least 5 articles a day and submitting to the top sites such as ezine and go articles. Also you can get alot of exposure on sites like usfreeads, craigslist and backpage.com
To get started you are really going to have to narrow down your topics so you can saturate certain keywords. And I think the most important is content, content, content. Like Magda said, there is so much clutter out there you have to make it worth people's time to read. If it is worth it, people will naturally link to you. Article submissions are good, too.
Props to magda! Seriously, someone asks for niche ideas that a newbie should look at and the first reply is "making money online"? That's like calling yourself a brain surgeon after the first day of medical school. @seajo73, pick a topic you know or enjoy and carve your niche out there. There is no niche that's "easy for newbies" compared to any other niches, whatever market you enter is going to require work to become profitable, so pick something that you actually have knowledge and experience with; and that can keep your interest through all the tedious work of article writing and link building and you'll have a better chance of sticking with it until the money starts coming in. If you like camping for example, you could build a great site/blog about your camping adventures (now or as a child with Grandpappy for example) to share your stories and tips for fun and safety in the wild. Do some serious keyword research, target the low lying fruit early on (longtail keywords) to get your site ranking easy for those non-competitive terms. Once search engines are giving you top 5 spots for a couple dozen longtails it's much easier to go after the more competitive keywords and get traffic and rankings for them. Then just monetize the site in some way. Either contextual ads like AdSense, or affiliate products... or your own products. HTH
I agree with Scott - you need to start with something you know / enjoy. That way you start from a solid base and the rest is just education and marketing. It is kind of tough to find a niche, learn enough about it and then try to do something with it.
There really is no get rich quick in online marketing - no matter what the overpriced ebooks would have you think. There is a steep learning curve and the money is made at the end, not the beginning. There has been some good advice above. Start a blog and write quality original articles - and be prolific in your writing. Google loves blogs and content. Like real estate is said to be location, location, location. Making money online is all about content, content, content!!!!
