Which are the VERY BEST of All - Web site Trackers

Surprisingly - many Website (even ecommerce) owners are not aware of visitor trackers that can be added to websites for analysis

There are many good ones - that offer valuable information - but there always seems to be something that ONE has, that the OTHER does not.

Some - tell how many seconds and minutes vistors spent on a page...

Some - tell what Search Engines brought what Keywords...

Some - give a running total, while others calculate by specific days or weeks only...

Some - give keywords as well as keyphrases totals

Some - allow for Custom, dynamic, Analysis

Some - tell who is on the site currently

Some - tell the city vistors originated in

    Some - offer Graphs

What are the Creme' de la Creme' of Website Trackers

After spending many hours trying to find the perfect tracker, I decided it's not worth the search. I am quite happy with the awstats provided in my cpanel. :D

I use 123loganalyzer for quick overview and Absolute Log Analyzer for checking the details, both are not free. But people say you will check the webstats only when you don't get orders, I absolutely agree.

i found that one to be very impressive. But I don't look at logs enough toreally get much benefit from them.

Webstatslive charges $35 a month and lets you track up to 5 sites (or so many hits) before they charge more. It has much more detailed information and then you can compare monthly, weekly or daily. Unique visitors, new visitors, and then search phrases and search engines, etc...

I have used them for 5 years and I know that a very fast growing (into the internet) business - harryanddavids.com uses it also.

Like Kalina, I get plenty of data from AWSTATS... I also use PHPInfo for my forum to zone in on hits there more specifically.

I use Urchin stats package but that's because it's free with my web hosting. There are some things it won't do because it's an older version. The current version does a lot more but I doubt I'd pay $895 for it. :)

I've used www.statsession.com in the past, it looks horrible, doesn't work in Firefox but the stats itself are quite good.

I use IndexTools, which is a browser-based analytics program. I find it a pretty good value for all the data I receive. I like the ability to track custom actions and scenarios, as well as PPC and email campaigns, all which cannot be done (atleast easily) with log analyzers.

Our host set up Livestats, which I find very useful.

Main good features are that it will show top search phrases by search engine by day / week/ month , has nice graphs, includes dynamic content options, and a ton of other little things I don't necessarily check that often :) There's a few bits of it I haven't used; you can get weekly / monthly reports automatically emailed to various users, setup custom events, CGI watches and tons of other stuff. You can search keyphrases using filters, ie all phrases with 'travel' or something similar.

There are always disadvantages though; it's a bit slow due to the Java it uses to display all the graphs (and doesn't let you view it in Firefox, even though I'm sure it would actually work). Another is that I'd like to be able to exclude 'google' from my 'refering urls' stats, so I can actually see other sites that are generating visits ;) A simple - option in the filter would do the trick, but they don't have that yet.

Not sure how much it cost, but it's not cheap; our host bought it for his setup after we asked for something better than AWStats. And it definitely is much better.
