Directory submission could the best if you are talking about yahoo and dmoz. Similarly, Press releases could be the best if they were picked up by cnn. Article submission isnt very helpfull. Blog comments do almost nothing. Forum signatures dont do a lot either. Social bookmarking can be good if you get on a page with high PR.
