    I used to use AVG & ZA for FW, always worked great for me. I upgraded to ZoneAlarm Pro though, in part b/c it has a kick ass email spam filter.

    And then of course like other have already mentioned I also use it in conjunction with Ad-aware (SE personal) and Spybot S&D (1.5)

    Grisoft AVG Free 7.5 - virus.gr detection rating: 82.82%; total running time: 13 min, 8 sec; total files scanned: 56,391

    AVG has a tricky interface, with minimal configurability (for example, you can't specify whether or not AVG should scan within compressed files, and there's no indication of whether or not this happens by default) and no progress bar during scanning. With such a low virus.gr rating I'm not sure I'd trust it as my only line of virus defense. After it finished its scan in only 13 minutes, having scanned a whopping 20% of the files actually on the disk.

    I agree with ZakYoung. Also, ZoneAlarm firewall is really good. If you still want a antivirus, use Kaspersky. I have used it for several years, and it is my personal favorite. I have tried the trial version of Nod-32, and believe it is good too.

    I have tried Norton, Kaspersky and BitDefender. My vote goes for Kaspersky. But my friend prefers Bitdefender.

    Having an antivirus protection is a must for any computer. Unless you do not have it hooked on to the internet. Even if you are a safe web browser an antivirus does give you a sense of security.

    IMO;

    I don't see how any of you can put a AV to be the " best "

    There is no best, as each AV has a better detection rate than so many of its dynamic competitors.

    e.g

    my peice of malicious code is not detected by nod32, yet it is detected by MC Scumzies ( Mcafee/norton )

    using NOD32 from 3 years now, its not a resource hog but still more effective than norton bloatware.

    I've experience that if your Flash disc infected anykind of virus and attack F:boot/ and try scan with PC-Mav RC 22 or ANSAV or KASPERSKY (the best rating Anti-Virus Vote) it wont detect in your flash disc bot sector (F:boot/), but if You scan with AVIRA it will debug this virus with hardly...I've try it before :D

    So i've conclusion that AVIRA still the best...

    Ooppsss it's just my opinion...
