If you are forced to use or deal with windoze, AVG Free and Adaware are the two best out there!

I would go with the AVG free version. It has saved me several times and its free root kit detector is another great program.

    Just my 2¢

I was going to make a video tutorial for you, but I don't have NOD32 installed right now.. still I can teach you through text if you want, just give me a PM with your yahoo, skype or whatever and I can instruct you in this.

But if you plan to get back with NOD32 you better get ESS(Eset Smart Security) now because it contains a built in firewall in it and some other protections and also it doesn't have to be tweaked in order to have complete protection :)

EDIT: I've found a tutorial on this here: http://alaskajoe.com/NOD32/tweaks/

..there are many more out there, just google for tweak nod32. I'm not really sure if those are still valid for the new version NOD32 v3 but they should be pretty similar.

Any open source software that scans all incoming and outgoing packets is fine with me.

i'm using kaspersky security too ;) if you know how to use the antivirus properly and click "Don't allow" "block" "deny" when needed you'll be safe forever. i really like that scream sound when it founds threats.

I have used many Anti-virus softwares. AVG is not so good unless you are looking for something free. Avast is better in case you want free anti virus! if you want paid anti-virus services, I would suggest either NOD32 or Kaspersky internet security! they are the best so far. Norton is quite heavy on memory so its not that good.

The best anti-virus is intelligent internet use. Don't download, especially porn, stick to sites you know, don't jump off the deep end.
