In my opinion "NOD32" is the best antivirus program that I most prefer and recommend to you.

i don't bileave on antivirus now...if there is antivirus making company..than there are hackers and virus makers who can pass that antivirus easily..take a example of torjan virus...your antivirus notify you the threat after the virus is in your system..it says Quarantine..it means it is not fully deleted from ur system..ok may be it is deleted from ur system..till now there is not any antivirus which can detect a virus in ur registry...and if it is detected than it can't be removed becuase..no antivirus comapany wants to make ur registry corrupted and dont want to make ur system BOOM..i mean some file will get missing and ur system doesnt work properly..

So, my dear friends that best way to make your system virus free is that...it should be up to date..and just google and search the virus and the key and start playing with registry ...if u get to know how to play with registry..that u can do any change in your system.....

some viruses.....Folder option missing....registry editor is blocked by admin....task manager is blocked by admin..wr u use admin..these all are viruses

    thanku..
    gud luck

AVG 8 was hated by many websites and webmasters for it's scanning of, well... basically "The Internet". Not sure if they fixed that yet, but I haven't found anything better than NOD32. Not that I need it, being on Macs, but when my dad still ran Windows I wanted something bulletproof for him (to save me on IT support phone calls ). NOD32 is the best out there right now, IMO. Luckily, he's since seen the light, too..

I would use AVG 8.0 or Kaspersky if you had money to spend.
Team this up with some anti-spyware. Spybot S&D and Superantispyware or else Spyware Doctor if you have money.

    I recently switched to avast!

It seems to be working fine, updates regularly, and uses less memory than McAfee security center.

Well this is my advice as a computer technician the field for the past 10 years..

I have seen a lot of antivirus software and have put a lot of them through test , I have used norton at first cause it was good and not that heavy on your computer, But now in days, Every antivirus software you install is heavy, Accept for NOD32 which still remains the same and less resource hogger then the rest of the antivirus software,,

For firewall, Windows built in is good enough for the average user, If you are into P2P then yes you will need a firewall,

But with NOD32 and ProcessGuard the Pay edition, Will be all the protection you will need, and I have implemented that for the pass 2 years, and within those 2 years I have less clients coming to my location and more work doing remote desktop..

Everyone has their opinion on which one is good.. But I could tell you from a technician point of view which is mines, NOD32 and ProcessGuard are the best security software to have around and if you used it correctly, You will never get infected with a virus and or spyware , Well unless you give them permission to run ...
