    From commercial antvirus applications I would choose nod32 or kaspersky.

    From free ones, Avira has the best results in most reviews, it even comes close to nod32 sometimes, so I would stick with Avira.

    But in addition to antivirus, I strongly recommend using also firewall.

    Use NOD 32 or Kaspersky. For a free one, use AVG free edition. However, if you use Windows Vista, then your options are very broad. I just use OneCare with Vista

    quoted for the truth! I have/had no problems and been running it for more then a year now. Plus, its not a resource hog like the others!!
    Another good reason to switch to XP! :)
