This is a good question but the answer to this is more complicated. It really depends on your traffic demographics. Some people make tens of thousands of dollars from a particular affiliate program per month, others cannot earn $10 make make money in a different program because their traffic/visitors are not interested in the offer.

If you specify your website / traffic, you can get better suggestions as to what programs would work for you. I manage two programs AcclaimSubscriptions.com that offer sales on UK and worldwide traffic. Depending on your traffic and whether your visitors are interested in magazines/journals it may or may not work well for you.

www.worldniche.com gives me about $50 a month, which is the most I get from affiliate programs a month. I am promoting MoreNiche but get about $20 a month with that :(

You really need to make sure that the niche of your web site matches the affiliate programs you use. You won't sell skis on a web site having to do with bowling.

As far as pay-offs, I love the 5 Pillar Affiliate Program from SiteSell. Making a Site Build It sale generates a $75 commission and ongoing commission every year that they renew their subscription. The top benefit to me is the permanent cookies that some of the product sales give you. Once a permanent cookie is placed, you are hooked to that customer for life through the SiteSell databases. Even if they buy from another computer or delete the cookie, the database knows that they belong to you and replaces it. It's pretty much a WIN-WIN situation.

It been a real money-maker for me. You can find info about it in my sig ;)

Hmmmm, I am thinking you may be a little biased. Seems like you either own or run that affiliate program.

Traffic Excess in my sig because of the volume of sales. There are other affiliate programs that offer 75% commission ,but i don't make any sales.

    Clickbank

I also promote products for Jump USA. Im a big sports fan so i visit a lot of Laker forums that allow you to put the site in yur signature that relate to sports like Vertical Jump programs that help basketball players increase there jumping ability.

How would the affiliate program know who I am and keeped me linked to my referer if I changed computer? That sounds ridiculous.

I have tried selling this [Site Build It ] program but it never worked for me. May be because it costs a lot.

I make the most from CJ. All from 2-3 advertisers. I am expert in that.

Be a master of one trade. And before u choose the trade, think twice.

I run quite a few in the U.S., but am launching two in the U.K. with very nice commission rates. Will PM you once they are up. Maybe we could do business then. ;)

Acclaim is right on the money!

In addition to targeted traffic, the offer itself comes heavily into play. You must have a great offer to send this highly targeted traffic to. Not everyone’s traffic (even highly targeted) reacts to a particular offer the same way. It comes down to testing, testing, testing! Try some A/B Testing.

Gotta experiment. Some products/services may not sell at all (be it because of the price, the inherent conversion problem with the merchant's website or anything else), while other exact same type of products/services would. Also, I recommend experimenting not only with different affiliate programs, but also with different affiliate networks.

    Just my two cents.

Don't you think promoting your own affiliate program = competing with your own affiliates, or did you mean something else by your above post?

i beleive you should seek out something you are passionate about. also you may find you have to try many things until you find one that's right for you. A lot will depend on what you like and what you would be confortable with.
