Which advertising works best for you (if not secret)?
I tried once mass emailing (a paid internet bulk email company did it for me) with 0 success. They were promissing legal no spam email to millions of interested people, but I saw no increase of visitors to my site. I wish they were at least..... 1% correct in that promise. I would be successful if they were ..... 0.5% percent right

    Thanks for sharing,

Here's the secret of bulk email .
When you start a new site and not familiar of internet much , you fall for services like "500,000 search engine submission".
Your url is submitted to 500,000 FFA pages and email added to a list of million "interested customers".

Now some one makes a website that they will send your ad to these "million interested customers " . It is not spam as you agreed to recieve email from those FFA page submitters when you submitted your URL .

Now tell me how is an email to that list going to bring traffic to my website ???
Would you even look at my ad ? Or even "recieve" it ? You did give a free yahoo email when you signed up for that service , didn't you ? Did you ever check that email ID ?

If you want to spend money in advertising , then use it on ad words or in a newsletter ad . Many people send advertising in their newsletter which is being "read" . Again , placing an ad about website design in a SEO newsletter is useless because all those reading that letter already have a website which they are already promoting . They don't need a website designer . An ad about "website promotion" would however bring traffic .

You will have to figure out such things next time before running an ad .
