it's hard to tell what best suits to you without knowing what kind of product you sell. I think the most important things to look for are fast support, good marketing tools to manage your store, fast checkout that will deliver the highest conversions and a variety of payment methods.

    Hi Bebe11

What script are you using for your online store as usually there are at least 2 included one of which is usually Paypal.

However, it's no use signing up for a payment processor if your online store script does not have your choice included so check your script first.

Start with paypal for sure. If you're successful, get a merchant account to start accepting credit cards.

Hi bebo11, should have said before, but if you apply for a Nochex account before 1 January you pay just £10 instead of £50. So, that is £10 to set-up a merchant account and payment gateway, no monthly, no annual, and no recurring fees and just 2.9% + 20p per transaction - not bad for a tenner!

In my opinion, Paypal and 2Checkout.com are the two best options for you.

You can put Paypal payment button on your website without any cost. And the most people who make online payment know about Paypal. And Paypal has a high reputation on the internet. So it can give your customer more trust to buy your products.

I think you should go with PayPal or with the Money Booker.

Why 2? The more ways that you accept payments, the more you are diversified in the funds you receive. Many people report online currency payment processing accounts closing their accounts everyday. Dont let that happen to you.

Can moneybookers be integrated into the website so customers can pay without leaving?
Do the customer need to have an account with moneybooker in order to pay?

2checkout is your best option, the fee's are a little high, but you can accept all major credit cards worldwide. You can also offer alternative payment methods such as paypal, moneybookers, and alertpay, but since they require users to sign up for an account, they should only be offered as a secondary option.
