Check the source if your link got nofollow attribute then you know what it means. You can also try SEO for Firefox which highlight nofollow links.

Rel=no follow means certain pages are kept blocked from crawling search engines and do follow means pages are crawled by search engines.
In fact the no follow links have no value for more than 90% of search engines. So if you are going to gain new back links you should always check out if you will get do follow link.

There are 2 ways how to find out if the link is do follow or no follow:

    1. Check the page source. Load the site in your browser and click right mouse button. From the menu select the option "View page source". The source will be opened in notepad or similar text editor. Then press CTRL + F, fill in the word "no follow" to the search box and press ENTER to search for the no follow attribute. This way you can find out which links on the website are no follow.

    2. Use Firefox add-ons like Status search. These tools can be installed in your Firefox browser and when enabled they will show you which links on the page are no follow.

Which is great and all, except Yahoo and Bing still don't read nofollow tags. And Matt Cutts has openly said that nofollow links DO pass small amounts of link juice. But by all means, avoid them like the plague. They only effect the top 3 search engines
