I'm seeing people posting 4-5 digit monthly balances. Are you (the big money makers) making this purely from advertising? Do you also sell products? I'm aware that Shawn has more than one site and makes 7k+, is that from two sites, five, fifty?

My question is: are these large cheques are coming from a small number of high traffic sites or a large portfolio?

I think Shawn has mentioned he has Adsense on 5 sites. But remember that it's not about how many sites, it's about unique visitors. So whether you have 1 or 800 sites, it's the number of uniques that counts. :)

I'm not a big moneymaker yet, and a lot of the big moneymakers here probably won't tell you much. At the same time I'm covering all my monthly living expenses.

My advise to you is to maximize traffic. Be creative with your adsense ads. Don't do what other webmasters do. Try to add effective content. Maybe make your site interactive and offer something cool to keep visitors coming back.

I also think having more than one website is good to. I agree with the old saying of don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I think a lot of people earning decent income from adsense dont have sites built primarily for adsense but have taken advantage of it to increase earnings on high traffic sites.

I would not want to depend on adsense earnings but they make a very good bonus, subscriptions, electronic sales and physical sales make more for me personally every month than adsense does.

Adult and gaming is huge, if you're willing to touch these industries...

Top advertisers are bidding $3/click for gambling related keywords, PM me if you'd like more details.

The only problem with adult and gambling is that you are going into an industry that is extremely difficult to be successful in unless you have a lot of money to begin with. If you have a porn website how many other porn websites will exchange links with you? I don't know but I'd say very few. Why would they want to link to a competitor? The same goes for gambling.

Then there is the problem of google not allowing adsense on a porn site. I've looked at possible alternatives for porn and gambling related sites, but haven't found any.

I do no paid advertising, at least not using say Adwords to promote AdSense.

I simply have a number of high content well indexed, high ranked sites. Some months I get REALLY lucky!!! Other's are mediocre. For the most part I've been in the 4-5 digit range, again without advertising.

Now as to whether "large checks" are coming from small number or large numbers of site? It varies. Some yes, some no.

If you are looking for the perfect recipe for success and making money, there is no perfect recipe.

Work hard, get lucky. That's all I can offer :)

PM me. I can work out a sweet deal for you if you're interested.

We allow traffic from adult and gambling related sites. Our PPC for these keywords are very high too.
