Looking to get advertisers for my site. Always have used Adsense, so a bit stuck on where to go from here.
I don't think you should go searching for advertisers directly until your traffic level reaches about 200 UVs daily since even at 200 UVs daily, advertisers will hardly buy your ad space unless your traffic is really targeted. You can try out the Advertise section of DP to find some advertisers as well. Also, you can get hold of other private advertisers via blogs within your niche. Click through those ads and contact the advertiser. This works well for me sometimes.
Your objective should be to have advertisers contacting you, not the other way round. If that happens it means that your site has enough value to attract advertising dollars. If you haven't reached the value yet sorry your efforts to gain advertisers would in most case be useless.

depending on your niche, you can advertise affiliate products. cj and linkshare are 2 good resource. if you wanna sell ad spots, then you need to have good amount of traffic. try BST forum where you will find lot of people buying links and ad spots
If your site has the traffic to effectively sell advertising, I recommend contacting advertisers directly and offering ad space. I prefer to contact media buying agencies and get them promoting me for a commission. They recommend my sites to their clients for advertising purchases, I give them a commission on the order.
