I was sitting in the dentist chair today where it had a screen mounted on the tool tray stand arm. It was like a screen saver with pictures of people with pretty teeth and info about elective dental procedure. I thought this would be a good place for CPM ads. Screens on gas pumps or grocery stands would other good spots. I also thought this back in elections season that I could sponsor election signs with my URL at the bottom. And who wouldn't want to be on peoples signs at sporting events. Where else would you expect Adsense to show up?
I talked to a Google director at a university event last year and she mention mobile but didn't really know how they were going to do mobile, they just were going to do mobile. I also assume they will be tacking video ads at the start and finish of youtube videos.
What i'm sort of expecting is free telephone calls but you listen to a ten second advert while you are being connected, and then maybe every three minutes or something.
Deano, I had discussed about GOIP and giving free calls to users with ads supported model. you can check the post here: http://voipguides.blogspot.com/2007/01/goip-googles-voip.html Let me know if you agree with my ideas
the power of adwords/adsense is that you can easily track impressions and actions, otherwise it's just another advertising delivery medium. There's no one someone will act on something they hear before making a phone call (they already are making an action) and they certainly won't do anything if they're watching a screen while they're getting a tooth pulled.
Not sure if I agree, there are lots of people who use 'pay as you go' as opposed to contract phones (especially teenagers), now given the choice of paying for their calls or listening to a ten second advert what do you think they would go for?
Actually I was thinking about it as an Adwords advertiser. When my mind has time to wander I sometimes contemplate how to not rely on pay-per-click so if I could find a way to get the brand out there I'd be interested in pursuing it. I saw a video clip of a guy getting advertising in front of 200,000 people for $1. He painted up signs on cardboard from a dumpster and hung it from a highway over pass where 200,000 cars go by. I should hire that guy.
I think one panel will put some where and people can click this "screen panel" by finger tips and they can brows .... they can buy services or products with credit card number or anything like paypal ( PC screen will be everywhere like colonder )
Google has run some magazine ads from it's Adwords client base and purchased a company that brokers radio spots. There is still much more money spent on traditional offline advertising, it will be interesting to see how (not if) Google extends into this space.
