So with all these crazy inventions and what not . . . do you think in 10 years we will still be sitting here behind this screen building php and html pages ?

Please give me your thoughts. . . one thing that worries me are these "floating screens" where these people have on these bracelets that are connected to their fingers and they can control the screen and what ever. But those are still going to be surfing the net so WHO KNOWS. LETS HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS !

Do you remember the latest James Bond movie when M and others are standing around a table-shaped monitor, and dragging and sliding windows across it? (Like in Minority Report) Apparently that is in the works and will be making an appearance in the near future!

As for where will the internet be in 10 years, I don't think anyone really knows.. You only have to look at the quotes of the 'innovative minds' of past decades, and see how wrong they were in their foresight:

“I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.” - Thomas Watson, Chairman of IBM, 1943

“There is no reason anyone in the right state of mind will want a computer in their home.” - Ken Olson, President of Digital Equipment Corp, 1977.

“I can assure you that data processing is a fad that won’t last the year.” - Chief Business Editor, Prentice Hall, 1957

well i had asked a few "normal people" - people that dont have ANYTHING to do with the internet as a hobby or job and asked them if something like that cool minority report thing ended coming out if they would switch to it or something like it . . . for the most part besides being unreasonable in price they said no they would not swithc to that type of thing.

THE REASON this came up is because i pay my bills and mortgage and car note and all that crap with extra spending money and it goes up each month BUT my aunt is in town and every time she visits she always hounds me about what am i going to be doing in the future .. . and i hope to be making 10-15 a month on a low end which i am almost there but I am afraid that the internet will not be the same in the years to come . . . you know before i start making the 100K a month mark : )

well I would like to know what people think ;)

Definitely a better and super fast connection would be available, and the coverage would be wider. You might not believe that there is some place that still stuck with dial up :p

    lol :D

And i'm hoping that everything will be wireless, instead of sitting infront of a screen we'll just have little headsets with the entire PC built into them :)

Not sure how you'd throw a mouse and keyboard into that, maybe a tiny thing that you carry round with it :D

Personally I think Google will take over everything. If you have a look currently they have ONE of the biggest online search engines EVER to be made. Then they have a emailing service; Gmail. Then a Google internet service which goes down through the piping of the toilet. Then they got Ad network Adsense and Double Click...I can sit here NAMING all the services they are and have aqquired. Probably the next big thing they need to set up is a web hosting company for the public and other bits and bats which will cost them their "pocket money" and they will BE RULING the internet in its EVERY FORM!

    From Google: Muwahahahahahaha..... :p
