Where to submit my site to?

Are there any programs out there that can help me mass submit my site to directories?
Or is it better to manually submit?

Its best to do it manually, and do it yourself.

One of the troubles with directories is duplicate content, and by doing it manually you can help solve that issue, but changing your keywords slightly, and giving a different description for each entry.

For my forum I put in OccultCorpus, Occult Corpus, and Occult Corpus Forum for the keywords/name, and then put in a description focused on the various boards within the forum. yeah, it takes a LOT longer, but I'm hoping that'll help in the long run. I also have a list of meta tags that's simply too long for any given directory, so I alter those as well. Granted, I can only submit a few a day, but *shrug*

Either way though, it's still best to do it manually, and yourself.

never use any automated tools and always submit manually. you will be able to submit to quality sites and will get more approval. besides, lot of good directories dont accept automated submissions

I agree, you don't want to look automated. Google is looking for natural one way links, not 10,000 in one day. Quality over quantity is a key here.

Especially if your competitors don't have a large amount of one way links back to them, then you want to really focus on Quality one way links back and this can be accomplished through manual submissions.

I will agree with others, submit manually, use a form filler like roboform if you want to make it easier.

When you submit manually, you can also remove 'junk' sites from your list and not waste time on them next time you are submitting.

@4lfr3d: You can actually submit to 100s of directories in a day without thinking twice, directories take a lot of time in approving links and SEs take even more time in indexing internal pages, most of the times I see links from 'latest links page' much before the actual directory page is indexed.

Another point I would like to make is to use many titles and descriptions. If you use only one title and description for 2000 submissions (even if they are spread out over 6 months), it may be detectable !!

    Thanks for the advice.
Another question, do the directories have to be at all related to the niche of the site?

Niche directories would be better than general directories. You can also submit to general directories if you have the time or budget.

I'd do manual submission. At that way it helps to do variations on anchors and pages.
