While i have read so much about link building, read a couple of books and a number of posts, i have one simple question...where to start? Is it better if i start submitting my site to various free directories or should i start by submitting to high ranked directories such as yahoo, botw etc etc?
The best place to start link builing is from forums and blog commenting becz they not only bring you traffic but becz they are dynamic content you will get indexed quite quickly.Start with these for a week or so and then go for diff link building methods and you will get help immensly cheers
The better way to start to build the link as below 1. Directory submission 2. Leave comment on dofollow website
Depending on your budget, I'm not sure that paid directories will provide you that much of a boost. Submit to a few free ones, comment on some blogs and submit to some social bookmarking sites. Spread your efforts across these different locations and do a little every day, or at least as often as possible, especially at first. It can take awhile for efforts to show so it's good to keep adding.
I would start with a little of everything, making your link development look as natural as possible. Submit to directories, do some blog commenting, forum signatures, etc. If you are starting out, write a press release and submit it to the free press release services. Create a hubpage or squidoo page. A little every day is the way to go.
Generally, I have found blog commenting the best and fastest method. I have seen little positive impact from low pr site submission.
It's not important where you start, it only matters that you start It should be important to note that you should not only start someplace, but start in MANY places. Blog comments, forum posts, directories, articles, links, link exchanges, they are ALL important!
i second to Qryztufre, if you can do multi tasking then do it,, by then you can test yourself,, in what field are you good at and in what field do you need to exert more effort,,,,
Agreed! I spent a good while trying to figure out the "best" place to start which kept me from starting at all. Now I don't place as much emphasis on the best or most effective place. While I don't want to waste my time and effort the truth is what works for an seo site may not work as well for an e-commerce site......... Remember that many of the opinions expressed here, while very valid and usually offered only with the intent to assist other webmasters it is really impossible to know with certainty how the recommendations of someone with a two year old site with x number of inbound links, x number of onsite articles and so on relates to a one month old site with different variable. So I do agree that just Start! See what works for you, get active in forums like dp, pay attention, pick up the many gems you get here and apply them to your site and you can tell us what works in a couple of months or more.
Thank's guys. I am also new here at the forums. Been doing SEO for my websites for few month with only little progress. Now I read great tips here. Like the fact that blog posting is good. Until now I haven't done any blog posting...
SEo helps to get traffic from searches but not whole.... so u must circulate yr site betwn yr frnds and etc... initially
