I am planning to market my directory more and thinking of spending atleast $500. Where to spend? I already submitted to alive, aviva and other popular directory sites. Throw me some good suggestions.
Before everyone jumps on and tells you to signup for their friends DIR's. I'd take some of that 100-300 and build a TOOL that people can put on their site for free. This will help make you a resource and build links organically. Paying for links... Once you stop paying your link is gone and you have nothing to show. That being said look at some of the PR6 Dir's that are reasonably priced PERM links. Buy a few of those. Than spend 30$ on free submission to like 500-800 directories. That would be a good start I'd say ,after the initial DIR investments whatever money you have use to develop tools. My backlinks grow at ~100 - 200 a day. FREE. Buying lots of links for PR is like a an expensive drug habit - something that should be avoided!
my suggestion is to buy some quality sitewide links. It will do good to your PR, or buy some sponsor links for WP theme..at least these work for me.
I am really worried that search engines would deflate my ranking because of.. 1. Buying sitewide links from other sites would affect PR. 2. Submission to hundreds of spammy sites would cause de-indexing your site. Not sure how far this is true. Does Google monitor paid links also?
don't worry. Google won't penalyze inbound links... what do you mean spammy sites? I don't think buying links from WP theme could cause this prob.
google is monitoring everyones movement on the road, what they do at home and so on, so paid links is so easy for them But tell us what is your purpose ? a. Get higher PR b. Get More Traffic to your site. c. Both PR + Traffic d. Getting Laid Cheers
Google is starting to monitor paid links, but they are targetting sites with high PR. Plus, if they do find a paid link they penalise the site which is selling the link and not the person who bought the link. Otherwise we could all just go out and buy a few links to our competitors, report them and get them penalised. My advice would be to sponsor a couple of templates, great way to build links continually for a one off investment. Buy a couple of sitewides on reputable web sites and invest the rest in submissions + submission services.
I am not sure about footer links helping PR these days. There has been lots of talks on MC's BLOG about Spammy looking footer links. Most Templates use footers to put their links. But if he is looking for increasing indexed pages and backlink counts --then its fine. Strictly personal view of mine is that --even if I get a footer link from Yahoo (which is PR10 now) --my PR3 site will get just PR4. I think sitewides are just fine.
Submitted to these directories? romow.com ewebpages.org directorydump.com gii.in webdirectorybid.com bigweblinks.com linksjuice.com biz-dir.co.uk index-it.net nobledirectory.com
I would say for now spend it on subscriptions for some high PR links and on some directory submissions. After you get decent PR start spending on promotion.
Probably not a good idea until he increases his PR. Not a lot of traffic will convert and DP signatures will hardly give him any additional PR.
I agree with dubz and alang, invest the money in some tools or templates that will help create more natural backlinks. You could also hire a content writer to help create a blog for your directory too, this is done very well at www.gii.in I would avoid buying directory sitewides unless you are buying from trusted and extablished sites. Try buying links from non-directory sites too, general webmaster links should help your pagerank. With $500 well spent you could really move up to PR5 without too much trouble. You could also buy a couple of signature links and avatars on DP, try and buy from someone who is active in the directories/link sales forums. And last but not least, spend $9.95 here.
buy signature links and avatars! that makes a huge impact, i would also suggest to try the v7n directory, that's another directory which is pretty huge!
