Where to spend 20k to boost Rankings

I have a client that is a PR 6 and has very good rankings and conversions. He wants to do more and is set on getting a PR 7. If you had $20,000 to work with what would you do to bump him up to a PR 7? I'm thinking of buying a few high PR links and doing some other linking as well.
    Ideas...

I would rather focus on getting more traffic than getting higher PR, but that is just me.

high pagerank with no sales is worthless, high traffic WITH sales is promising. Pagerank doesn't matter if you don't get traffic, so focus on traffic and your return.

I'm with you guys on what you are saying. My client has PR envy and is stuck on the idea that a bigger PR is better. I keep telling him it's not about the size of the PR that counts.
he is doing great in all areas and making a chunck of dough but he can't get the PR size off his mind.

To obtain another level of PR I would suggest a mass linking campaign. One way links work best especially if they are from another site with a decent PR rating as well.

If you must spend the money for PR then just buy good PR links as you are already contemplating.

    Good luck.

It should be your job to get his mind off it. If he's converting at 2%, why not 4% and double his income? PR7 won't make him double what's he making now. PR6 will though.

Honestly, you really need to push the conversion issue. I mean, no need to spend $20K on something that 'probably' won't have any impact on his business. Might as well roll up those $100's and smoke 'em.

Voasi, would you please tell me if you just cast a random number about conversion rate or 2% and on is what do you think to be called as good conversion rate
Cause it is a concern for me to know the avarage of convesion rate (how menay saled could be generated from 100 targeted customers)

It was just a random number, but generally, a "decent" conversion rate is 3-5%, if I remember correctly.

A good place to poke around and do some research is at www.MarketingExperiments.com . Good info there for ya. ;)

SEO is the beginning not the end of internet marketing. You need to have good sales page, good conversion ratio (3-5 is pretty decent but you can do a lot better), concentrate also on what you can do with the traffic that doesn't convert.

If I had 20K...I'd spend all tha money building a GOOD list of customners who will buy from me again and again and again.

--esy way to get PR7...(IMO)pay a programmer to develop tools that people will use.

I suggest employing a proper SEO pro and a link baiting team. With $20k you can produce long term sustainable results without buying links.

Mad4 - That's probably what we'll do. Managing linkers is a pain in the rump but it does work. I did it before with another site and they rank at the top for every term we targeted.
    Thanks for everyone's input.

$20k is huge. With $20k in your pocket you might even get PR8. :D
Give me half of it and I will make your site PR 7. LOL:D
Seriously buying links is against Google guidelines, just be careful in buying links.:D

No need to buy links. Write a kickass article and send it to famous high PR newspaper sites. 20K will do this for you! This will bring super publicity and if the link is on any newpaper site - the same will be syndicated to 100 other sites - your BLs will come automatically. Important thing here is High Profile site (NYTimes, Washington Post, London Times, etc...)

How does one get an article into a big site like that? Are you suggesting that you pay them for putting it on their site?

I concur. PR is meaningless. Get the rankings higher and get the traffic and most importantly, get the traffic to convert.

The article should be providing unique content and useful information. Editors will be intrigued if the product/service offered is unique and of much help to their readers. If that is the case - you don't have to pay anything. Otherwise buy space in their classified and link back to the article on your site.

Why don't you do some Press Releases. At least you should get some traffic and have an increase in PR.
