I am having a site of mine translated. It has quite a few backlinks and good serps which i don't want to lose.

My question is, if I translate the site and put the translated version on a sub domain, will this inherit the backlinks from the main domain or not?

Also, if i put the translated site in a new directory eg mysite.com/german, would this still take benefit form the backlinks which are all sent to the main index page?

    Any help appreciated.:)

    I suggest putting it in a directory...although I don't think there is a difference
