Hi DP .. I think that my site ( youtips.net ) will be ready for public in one week (I still have two or three things to finish).. So I have a question , what's the best category for my site in the web directories ? in Dmoz for example ? thanks a lot for anwering ..
well , it's a website like www.tips.net .. collection of articles , hints and tips ... among other services ..
I have no idea but might i suggest you remove the adsense till each category has at least one article. Dont risk your adsense account with what could currently be seen as a lack of content.
Forget DMOZ. It will get rejected pretty quickly. Too many empty categories. Don't waste yours and an editors time.
just submit to many directories you can but first work on your content, so that your page get excepted and visitors come back
Hello, your website is a good start, you also choose a nice domain for a tips article directory, maybe the idea could be to make people send their own tips like in a community. Keep working and don't give up. You should write a lot of content, rich in tips useful for people. Maybe is a good idea to wait for adsense income and submission to directories until your website is a little more popular. Work hard for some months and then try to submit it to Dmoz but be sure to read all the webmasters guidelines.
thanks a lot for your answer .. it's encouraging .. I'll try to finish the website as soon as possible .. But I have one question , about .. How to make site popular without submitting to directories ? (social bookmarking and forum posting ?)
Good question, directory submission is one way to get backlinks and make a website popular. One way, so search for others. Some tips: - Send articles for articles directories to get a link and much more links if other webmasters use your article for their websites and they care of the creative commons license, of course. - Posting (not spamming) in forums. - Bookmarking, without spamming please. - Making a blog that supports the site and links to it, with some of the same related but NOT duplicated content. - Sharing themes or photos that you have created, asking other webmasters to keep your link. Think about other ideas.
Submit it into the "Article Directory" category of directory. If it has quality content the editor will move it to a category they think it fits best.
I think you should choose a cool domain, create a mount of contents, have different descriptions in the submission to directories and write useful tips for readers.
Your site need backlinks..popularity,,a site without visitors... Than means submitting to good directories .Mine for example (www.adlabors.com)
To answer the original posters question, many directories will have an Advice category under Society. Good luck with your site.
