where to put google analytics code?

Hi,

I am trying insert google analytics code on my wp blog.
Should I go through cpanel?
What files?

I put it in my selected theme footer file, right before the body tag.

 

yes, exactly...
to expand on that:
in your WordPress admin click "Presentation", Click "Theme Editor"
look on the right hand side where all the files are and select "footer"

insert the Google code and save...

should you get an error message saying something to the effect that the file isn't writable..then you must go to your cpanel, then file manager, and navigate to your theme folder and change permissions on all the files there to 666
