I just recently created a blog at http://cakesandkids.blogspot.com to help drive traffic to my website and to help with more in-depth links. I've thought about adding a couple of AdSense ads to my blog but am not sure about placement on a blog. What would work best here? I don't want it to look like it has a lot of ads on it. Thanks for any advice!
I have been recently trying out various ad placements on Blogger pages and I have found that the best method is to usually add a large block to the right hand side of your content. By large block I mean the 160x600 Verticle Wide Banner; just make sure that you blend it with the same colours you use on your blog. I have always liked the square units, but when you put one above the post they look a little too obtrusive and when you place them below the posts they will be placed under the comment block, which is hard to spot. I am not too sure whether the text link unit ads are worthwhile as they require a user to click through two individual link pages. I am still testing the water really. Ofcourse, when a superior template design arrives, it will be much easier to move around the ads. With the standard options... just experiment, but as I mentioned, that 160x600 unit does seem to generate more clickthroughs. Good luck.
This is adsense optimization for forums but I think you can use it as a guide, please check at http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html
