Where to promote to the unemployed?

I'm creating a web site that provides a legitimate business opportunity.
No fees, no costs, no mlm, etc. But how can I promote it? Any type of biz op, it seems, gets grouped in with all the other spam/bogus biz opps.

I'd like to promote to job seekers/unemployed, not just locally, but where can I do that to optimize the most exposure?

I look forward to your thoughts/suggestions/ideas.

You do it locally. People are usually looking for jobs near their home or in their state. Good luck fighting with Careerbuilder.com.

Many of the newspapers that are still being read are owned by Gannet, which also owns Careerbuilder. Where will you get your first publicity ?

Try free job listing websites. There are some that allow legitimate business opportunities to be listed.

Get in touch with local organisations helping the unemployed. If you have a genuine product they'll be interested. If your product is another variation of the 'sell this for me and I'll give you commission' they won't be.

Try your local government office that trains or upskills unemployed.
Try stickers on job notice boards in your local mall/social centre.
Try local community radio for a plug.
Try posting in free classified papers.
    Try the pub.

I fail to see what's so hard about targeting unemployed people. It's actually easy if you got out from behind the computer and went looking for them. Odds are you or your family already know people who are unemployed, who know more unemployed.

If you list it on the right site indeed may pick up the opportunities.

You may want to consider advertising in someones ezine or email list that offers opportunities. An I would highly suggest starting an list building campaign ASAP aweber has a 1 dollar first month trial.

I understand what you are saying here, however I think I may understand why our friend is encountering problems. ALTHOUGH there are a lot of unemployed people the last thing anyone wants to encounter is being taken advantage of in a time of crisis. NOW this is not to say that what this person is offering is a GREAT opportunity to earn an income, but people can be very skeptical. AND so are local employment offices. They are trying to help and if your product is a virtual one and you do not have all of your tax documents up to date, and everything else that goes with a legal venue it can be tough. That is just my two cents.

According to Google keywords tool "unemployment benefits" gets 33,000 searches daily. It would seem that with further research you could seo yourself into some decent traffic.

Why dont you try bum marketing method? Write a series of articles using keywords, such as jobless, unemployed, unemployment, business opportunities, get rich etc, and link to your website. Post to as many article directories as possible. That should get some targeted traffic for you.

CraigsList employement section (prepare to compete with tons of people doing the same thing)

Best bet is local newspaper. Some are paid while others are free.

Set up a legitimate site with tips for getting a job and a forum for job seekers. Research the relevant keywords & get 10 original 500 word articles written (@ 1 to 2 cents / word that's only $50-$100). Promote your site in the usual ways including white hat linking.

It's all legit, so you can monetise the site with adsense.

Once you're getting a little traffic, you can promote your service through it's own 11th page on the site and through the forum.

    Locally, newspaper, job boards (craigslist)

Don't setup a scam site, make something legitimate.
