Where to place a mailing list sign-up on a webpage?

The webpage that I'm having someone build has a lot of empty room on the top, and I have a very small mailing list sign-up from mailchimp.

I was going to squeeze it in on the top right, or would it be better a quarter or so down the page?

I thought of putting it at the bottom as well.

Where do you think is best? What do you think of those sites that freeze the page, and a mailing list sign-up appears, to get out of it you either have to press close or enter in your e-mail address. I almost thought that kind of capture would deter people in my market.

Does your site have a sidebar? I think that's the best location to place the mailing list sign-up form.

The top right portion is also a good choice.

Don't place it in the footer because it won't attract much attention there.

Please don't do this. It will annoy your visitors and might even cause them to leave the site.

The top right corner of a web/home page is pretty standard for a mailing list sign up section.
