Although there are some standard ways to get links, there are a lot more ways you can come up with if you are creative. You are in the right forums. Just spend some time every day reading these forums and learning the different and many techniques there are. Like tanay46 said, have to be creative and think about side the box. Learn a widely used technique but put your own spin on it.
