Guys, I am looking for websites that make at least $300-500K a year. Have up to 2M to invest. Would it be better to start my own thing or buy something established. Is this the right place for something like this?
You should find something different or new. In online everything changing so fast. The movement of graphic can be up but next week can be drop.
I don't have any new ideas though. I am not interested in a sports service. I am thinking something such as an established video links site. How much "should" a site that has 750,000 unique visitors a day make?
You profile yourself as online investor with some serious cash but you obviously have no know-how otherwise you wouldn't ask such basic questions and wouldnt even start posting here. My point? Who are you trying to trick here?
There would be only handful of sites that make $300-500K and I don't think they would be very willing to sell, with the kind of cash you have you can play a VC fund a kick a** idea, my vote will go for build up something from scratch
If I had 2M, I'd sit back and relax. Anyway, when you have that amount of money, you start a business on your own. Why depending on others?
You might be able to find an established website that will let you invest at a 15% cap rate, but you won't find it here. Due to exponential growth rates on successful websites you may be paying on next year or the following year income projections. If you want 20%+ annual returns from website properties you should invest in a number of startup businesses running on quality .com domains, again not the type of projects you will find here. You might invest 500K across a handful of projects being developed and then the bulk of your money into marketing the two projects that are completed and progressing the best. If you are serious send me a PM with some information about yourself and I can refer you to a couple of people that can place you in appropriate investments.
I am just looking for a "cash cow" type of business. Something that will earn on autopilot. Something someone developed and wants to cash out. As for the investing in something new, that would be great but where are the ideas?
2m seems low for a site making 500-800k/yr; why would the owner sell at that price (unless they thought their business wouldn't make it long-term and wanted to cash out).
I use to own onlineinvestor.com and onlineinvestors.com a long time ago. Definitely go for something new, you'll waste your money otherwise. I'm working on a comedy site like funnyordie.com, already have a very marketable domain worth about $100K.
