Hello, I humbly request some advice, I am not very knowledgeable in the technicalities of site creation and hosting. I am currently paying a company for the backend of a very big website I am planning to have. They are currently telling me that they will do the databases with MySQL 5.0.24, but I am worried that most of the big hosting sites like hostmonster.com and bluehost.com say that they support up to MySGL 4 point something. I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the topic.

If I were to upload a version 5 database on a host that supports up to 4, would it simply not work?

Should I just tell the company thats making my website to use the older version of MySQL?

Is there a hosting site that supports the latest SQL and have very high bandwith (3terabytes)?

    Thank you.

Are you getting a dedicated server or shared? on a dedicated server you can install whatever you want.

Perhaps email them and ask what version of MySQL they run on their shared servers. Thats really the only way you are going to get the right answer.
