I have a new project in my mind. I need someone that can build a small program to be used on AOL's messenger program that could run on windows, I guess itwould be C++. Where can I find good freelancers that can bid for this project? I tried scriptlance and they were awful, tried rentacoder.com and it was even worse, those places are full of newbies that can't do a decent job. I tried Elance but it seems too expensive and complicated to list a project there. Any other places I can go to?
I really like Craigslist, Fryman. They've got the ability to be local, or national if you'd like to post all over the place. You also get responses that are of generally high quality as compared to the script places. BTW - I totally miss seeing you over at SEOChat, your ascerbic humor is a welcome relief during a tough day.
Well...maybe you should try: http://www.getafreelancer.com Prices is probably a little higher than on scriptlance....but lower than elance and it's still easy to post a project. We generally receive more bids on each project. Just take your time when selecting provider. Discuss the project with them using our PM system before you select any of them.
I use getafreelancer.com also - I have tried a few others but that one is the best IMHO. Make sure to use the escrow option. I will echo what billion said about utilizing the PM system. Make sure every detail is laid out as the interaction also gives you a chance to feel someone out before commiting. Also, there is always a few people that use the bid process to Spam your request. You can use the hide function to clean up that view once people start responding. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me as I use them a lot
If you only target Windows, ask for C# as well - these guys and girls may be a bit cheaper. Of course, it will only work if .NET is installed (WinXP and Win2K3). J.D.
I think you should try to take support from remote, by going through a "Test Drive" or you can drop a ticket your critical quality requirement to few reputed outsourcing company and can check their capability & technical skills for your project.
I've used ScriptLance twice now, and had no problems - although there are some truly dreadful reviews on Alexa. I guess it's a case of whether you get an ethical - or competent - programmer.
Scriptlance sucks, they have terrible programmers, its only a good place to get php coders. I gave getafreelancer a shot and it turned out to be even worse... I have 3 bids now by unknown coders with 0 feedback which are just spamming me with copy-paste information about their company. Boy, this sucks, I guess I'll just have to try elance after all.
I am pretty sure that the windows world runs Visual Basic as well, so you make just want to put "windows programmer" in the description. Between VB, C++, C#, .net its a lot of choices....
getafreelancer sucked for me too. Only place I've been that seems to have even slightly competent people is elance.com and even there, its pretty sparse. Most of the people available for freelance, it seems, are hacks or people who do it part time.
Problem is that if I go to some company they would want to charge thousands for my project, that's why I was looking for a freelancer
Why not ask some people around here in the Buy, sell, trade section? There are a lot of able programmers on this forum who I'm sure would be interested in this project.
You can go to http://www.experts-exchange.com and contact the top programmers on the language of your choice and ask them for a quote on the project you want. To view their profile and contact them you will have to login first. I'm sure you'll find someone good there.
You only have the right to expect what you inspect. You have to be involved in the project to make sure it delivers what you need. Most of the freelencer don't understand the users need and they've unreasonable expectations from the clients and underestimating the Size of the Project. However as per Frost & Sullivan IT Consulting Analyst Jarad Carleton. "Outsourcing is a continuous process where a conducive environment having a free-flow of information between the home office and offshore staff is critical to avoid cost overruns and project delays,".
Go to rentacoder.com! These guys are from india,...I think. Very affordable and good. - that´s what I heard! jabz.biz
I got a couple of great programmers working for me from scriplance. One piece of advice is dont always assume those without feedback are poor programmers, they may have just joined or struggling for work because they have no feedback.
The problem is, they only get feedback after doing jobs, and most people prefer to use programmers with good feedback. On the plus side, such programmers tend to be very cheap in order to get feedback.
I think just saying affordable and good not be enough, it’s most important part to ensure their commitment to quality, accuracy and meeting your needs as per your expectation. Overall it’s most important to go through proper review of a particular tech support through checking their pre-sales response and their capability.
