Where to get royalty free images from?

WAIT A SECOND before you post...

I need stock images, like those at istockphoto etc. But I want to be able to use them on printed items such as badges, mugs etc.

I know that I can buy the extended licence from somewhere like istock, but it is very expensive and 'per photo'. Would need to sell LOADS of each product to even cover the cost of the image.

So, I am looking for somewhere with:
    - Illustrations / graphics (more important than photos)
    - Cheap price per image or subscription based

    Anyone have any ideas? :)

Thank you, but could you confirm that the ones on that list can in fact be used on commercial printed physical products such as badges? I have to be specific as many licences say that you can print them, but NOT on mugs, t-shirts etc, only on cards, calendars etc. :)

Was looking at fotolia but they charge quite a bit of the extended licence. On a per image basis that is too high for us as we are looking for a hundred or so images a month :)

The photographers at sxc.hu are generally really nice, and give you the green light for just about anything. I've used them before, and the sxc members I've been in touch with have always been really friendly and interested in what I'm doing with their pics.

Thank you. That's good to know. The problem is there is not much illustration stuff there. As mentioned, we are not really looking for photos, we want cartoons, drawings, etc. :)

You expect us to actually read the entire post? :)
    Sorry about that...

You could always try emailing the artists at www.deviantart.com - there's some wonderful stuff there.

There's also www.vectorportal.com, but I'm not sure on their 'real world printing' restrictions.
