http://seecom.at offers free .at domains, but the rules are strict and only for local people there.

I have to say that you'll not get absolutely free domains anywhere because of the cost. Maybe you can get free domains from hosting providers if you agree to subscribe their special packages.

Well no one actually gives free domains and if some extensions do their search importance is not in lot in major search engines. .tk puts ads i think

The only one I can think of right off the bat is co.cc as a free domain provider I don't think they put ads on your site.

Just buy a .com, its not expensive. Its only $8.00 at name.com. Most free domains use popups and advertisements, so just get your own.

I would recommend investing in a good name with good domain name extension - domain prices have come down over the years and very very affordable - so instead of looking for free - opt to buy them!

Why dont you consider to have .info .. it's cheap enough i think and still a popular TLD. It's only $0.89 for the firts year .. just see if they don't generate income for you in 1st year , let it go for 2nd years. :D

Yes i absolutely agree with you. We must handle domain as an investment and will generate great value for us in the furture. So free domain is the last stand .. but if it's for learning of fun purpose it's ok to develop site with free domain or almost free domain.

search for free domain giveaways... I've posted a related link last week but people seem to be too lazy to complete some steps to win something these days... they prefer buying it. happy buying then.

There are some sites which offer you a free domain name for posting etc. but these tend to not be the better extensions. If you absolutely have no choice just do a search for free domain name and you'll come up with co.nr, co.cc and .tk extensions. This may be fine if you just want to establish a web presence, but if you're looking to set up a business site you'll be better off investing in a good domain name with a top extension.

its not possible to get a free .com domain - but have a look at nic.cz.cc - you get a free (sub) domain which works exactly like a .com domain. Its free and new. Lots of domains free - check it out and you can get

    yourname.cz.cc
