Yes yoy can use it for Online purchasing and also you get some big discounts. Best use of ICICI card on Yatra.com It saves 30%.

ICICI bank is also best to verify PayPal accounts if the their card acceppted by paypal.

I don't think so...one needs a credit card (or an online banking account) for online use...most Indian banks' debit cards do not work online.

thank you for your suggestions to me :D
you guys have been very helpful :)

20,000 is a lot of money. i am just thinking of starting o bank acc with just watever is the minimum amount required to open a bank account. i will probably open a bank account in SBI ( State bank of India .. my dad works there .. i may get some bonus i guess.. who knows lol )

damn, i was thinking of SBI .
hmm.. so wats the next best bank to open hav an account ?

i want to spend as less as little as possible for creating a bank account and the CC ...

some friends have suggested me that in India direct paypal to bank transfer facility is not available.
and we can only accept cheques and show in in the bank and get the money added to the account ...
so some friends hav recommended me to use a VCC on my paypal account ...
so if i use a VCC .. can i then revert back and use another CC on my account ? (in case i decide to make one in future .. )
my only concern is paypal banning accounts for using a VCC.
moreover by using a vcc i will never b able to do Direct Paypal2Bank acc even if paypal gives that kinda facility to India in say wat.. a few years to come ? lol
and if VCC should work fine , then wat sud b my job ? just go to say an ICICI or HDFC and make a bank acc... buy a VCC from someone at DP.. verify request cheque frm paypal.. and take and show it in bank.. will that b it ?

can i then see some real cash instead of the e-cash or virtual cash ? lol :D

Woah.. You got some good questions here lol.. you should really try reading DP threads.. lots of stuff you need is lurking there.

Okay so I will try to answer some of your questions..

Direct Paypal to Bank account is not available, you do have to ask for paypal cheques and deposit it in your bank. But there is an alternative to cheques.. and its called Xoom.. To find all the best possible info regarding Xoom read the thread Clear You Confusion Regarding Xoom [INDIANS ONLY] - Thanks to Sandrarocks for that thread.

You can Use a VCC to verify your paypal account. If in the future you get a CC, you can add it to your account along with the VCC.

Paypal Doesnot ban accounts with VCC, its not stated in their TOS that using VCC is not allowed. Paypal bans accounts which they consider as suspicious, etc. If you make your CC(if you add it in future) the primary Credit card, then you can enjoy directbank2paypal deposit .. that is in the future if that is available for indian banks.

When you have a bank account, and have a VCC. You have to add that VCC to your paypal account and paypal will deduct an amount of 1.XX$(dont remember the exact amount) from it and send a 4 digit code. You wont get any Verification cheques that you will have to show to the bank. If you verify using CC, then the 4 digit code will appear in your CC monthly statement.
If you want to see some real cash instead of the virtual 1, then you have to withdraw your money from paypal via Cheque or Xoom.

I hope this clears some of your doubts.

    Best Regards,
    Kulwinder.

Yes, you can use it for online purchasing. I have been using my card for past 3 years. I heard ICICI Credit Card is much better and safer.

Hdfc may good be good but you should maintain minimum balance of Rs. 5000 which is quite high according to Indian standards.

I have an HDFC account in which I have to maintain minimum 10,000 Rs. Actually that is the help I recieved from my father :), so unless you cant afford, thats too less what you can ask your parents.. Its like sort of an investment :)
