Where to find PHP Programmers?

Discussion in 'Programming' started by ImVickieB, Dec 1, 2005.

    Hi everyone,

I am in need of a PHP programmer for a large project, but I am not sure where to look? Where is the best place online to post a request for bids on a project? What sites have you have a positive experience from, or better yet, where should I stay away from? Anyone have any recommendations of a programmer who has experience with building custom blogging software?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

You can get very experienced programmers at http://www.scriptlance.com, and they will offer you really good prices. If it is a big project I recommend you to stay away from the ones that dont have much experience and go with a programmer that has a lot of reviews at scriptlance, they are really good on their stuff.

There are other places like elance, but they will charge you a lot more for the project and the results will be the same.

Of course - if you're looking for someone here - i'm sure there are plenty of us who'd be interested. But i'd stick with scriptlance.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! I will probably hit scriptlance, but if someone here is known for their quality work and has people here who can vouch for them, I may give that a shot as well.

Im a php programmer and a very good one at that, im not going to attack sites like scriptlance but i would advise against them, but thats because i know im a better developer than anyone that uses such sites.

I can provide multiple references and examples of work if you would like it, send me a PM if your interested.

    Cheers.

I generally make people prove they are a good programmer by giving them some small jobs first to see how they do. I think it's a mistake to spend more that a couple hundred bucks on someone that has not proven themselves.

Suppose they truly are a good programmer, but then you find out that they are overpriced, only after getting half the work, and realizing they tend to nickel and dime you on small things you failed to tell them in the beginning.

Or suppose they are cheap but their work sucks.

Or suppose they are great, but after 2 months they up and leave.

You really have to try different programmers until you find one that works good for you. Even after recommendations from friends, I've had disappointments.

So my advice....try them out with small jobs first.
