Where to find online freelance copywriting work?

I have been working as a copywriter and web designer for some time, though so far I have been using just one site to find work and have actually found plenty of writing jobs to keep me busy. The problem is most don't pay as much as I expected.

What would you say are the top 5 places to find freelance writing work today?

    Thx,

Look throught the ads in Yahoo, MSN and Google. Many of them may need a copywriter to improve their sales.

Also look at all of the businesses in your town or city. Many of them may also need help. Send them an e-mail through their website.

Great thing about this is that you don't have to call them up. Just send out a simple e-mail. Cold calling has never been so easy.

Those two sources alone should keep you busy.

Thanks for the help, I tried odesk looks promising. Also I never really tried going straight to companies to offer copywriting services.

I've gotten a lot of work from Guru and hired some people using oDesk. The challenge is getting good rates for your work if you're not from Asia or Eastern Europe, but there's still plenty of people out there who will pay more for copy from native English speakers.

A couple of other sources I have forgotten:

SEO writers, and especially computer programmers and designers have plenty of custmers who may need a copywriter.

Perhaps set up some sort of partnership.

Like contacting advertisers, both off and online, send these people an e-mail.

These alone can get you at, the very least, $50 an hour jobs without having to look that hard.

You can then get referrals from them for even more work.

Another option u might consider is to ask your friends or anyone you know. In these scenarios..you never know who may come in handy!

Demand Studios is one of the better paying sites for freelance work, but it's also slightly harder to get approved.

Steer clear of Elance. It really is a buyer's market. Trying to find something more regional might be of greater benefit.
    Just get contract templates.

I would stick to the solid places like elance and odesk if you have some good set of skills.

They give star rating so if you are gunna join these sites make sure your work is up to scratch....otherwise you can get bad wrap.
