Hey, I just started an online tutoring service. I have a few tutors already but i want a team of atleast 15. Where can I find them, i want college students. Where do you suggest looking? Also, i am obviously looking for students to tutor. where do you think are good places to find students who need tutoring or parents who want their child tutored? Ive tried craigslist but have not gotten many responses I Have a link to my website if you are willing to look at it as well
Tru tutor.com - I've never used their service as I just learned about it today, but it could be a good place to start.
can i use it to get students? I need more students that I need tutors so i want to focus on that first. Ive already done craigslist every day, and have handed out posters locally http://myonlinetutor.wordpress.com
you can try posting on college forums and seeing if anyone needs tutoring, Im sure you could get a couple from there.
which forums, collegeconfidential does nto like that sorta posting and i dont know any other forums for college or students.
I'm a teacher myself and when I want to tutor, in my spare time, I usually: 1) Post ads on Kijiji and Craiglist (works fine for me!) 2) Use the old word of mouth method. Once you are successful with a student, he/ she usually tell his/ her and so on. To recruit tutor, I suggest you do it the old fashion way, i.e make an ad and post it at local universities, libraries etc.
thanks zhu would you mind posting a template of your listing on cl and kijiji? I just want to see if im not adding something or adding too much.. would be much appreciated
If you have a company, just go to colleges/universities in your town and ask for internship/co-op programs. Tell them that you have jobs for students. They'll be really happy to see you and they'll help you find great candidates at affordable rates. Good luck.
I would suggest moving your site as running a business via wp.com isn't allowed as per the AUP unless you're in their VIP program. I'm not going to report you but chances are someone else will. I was going to suggest the flyers as well. Instead of handing them out though, I'd post them on bulletin boards around local campuses if you have them.
Business is a bit specific where I live, because I teach French in a city where bilingualism is pretty much mandatory for federal gov' workers. I'm usually not saying that much... I state my experience in the field (a few years now), I explain which goals I can help the students reach (i.e in my case there is a specific bilingualism exam) and I state when I'm available. I usually don't even put the rate because I follow the market. Got about 70 replies last time I posted...!
