Where to download Unix...!

Dear mates...,

i need UNIX operating system..!

where can i download UNIX ISO image....! i already searched in google.com but no use..., i searched for 2 - 2.30 Hrs...... but no use....

Any body please help me.

 

There is no single unix desktop system. You can use a unix-like operating system. OpenSolaris, BSD and all Linux distros are unix-like or unix-based. I'd recommend Ubuntu since it is the easiest to use and has the best support.

 

There are many varieties of UNIX, and many derivatives. Linux, BSD, and Mac OS are the best-known derivatives. If you're looking for an actual UNIX download you will probably want to check out OpenSolaris. It's free and Solaris is the most widely-used UNIX platform on the market.

I'll also suggest Ubuntu.. You can easily make a Live USB and use that anywhere.

 

I suggest you to use Ubuntu it is compact and easy to use. You can also get a free copy of latest Ubuntu disc through mail for Free.

 

I don't mean to be a stickler for detail, but you guys recommending Ubuntu do realise that that is not UNIX right? It's Linux. Linux is a derivative of UNIX. If the OP actually needs UNIX then Ubuntu is not going to suit his needs. Neither will Debian, Fedora, D.S.L., Gentoo or any of the other myriad flavours of Linux. If he needs UNIX-like functionality, then Linux will probably do, and Ubuntu is awesome for that (I use that myself!) But it isn't UNIX. OpenSolaris is -- it's directly descended from UNIX System V and is the free variant of the commercial Solaris OS.
