Where to check traffic number of sites-competitors?

Guys,

I now there are sites (at least I've seen one but forgot a link) where you type in a domain name and you'll see an approximate number of visitors for that domain.

Please point me to sites with such service

Also it varies from niche to niche.

well,

I heard about google analytics adding some new features for sharing your site data. If your competitor's using analytics and he's sharing his web site data, yes you can.

But other than that (or simillar stat-counters) you have no chance to "know". You can only guess.

All of those companies have no way to tell exactly how many users a site receives ;-)
What they do is estimate and the way it works is they have a rule - by knowing a small portion of the group they try to estimate the rest. They have toolbars which millions of people use (or so they say) and based on the data they receive from the toolbars usage they estimate the traffic on the web. The problem with this type of statistics is - the smaller your website traffic is the larger the error margin.
