I heard Yahoo makes it very difficult to transfer your names away to another company...... I would stay far away from them....
I always buy my domains from Godaddy.com. I check here at DP first and get the latest discount code that is out which usually gets me a .com, .net for around $4.99. Ian
found a company selling .org domains for 2.15 but when you tried to buy em they said only europe and some other countries quilified for the price.i emailed and they then said that the special was over...Sorry, .org $2.15 promotion is expired. clasione To begin an endorsement or negative opinion with "I heard . . . " doesn't quite cut it. Yahoo does not offer transfer capabilities to their registrar which is Melbourne IT from other registrars. Transferring from Yahoo to other registrars in the event of a domain name sale or other similar event is very easy and trouble free. I didn't just "hear" about this. . . I have 30+ domain names registered with Yahoo and routinely sell some of them or move them on the behalf of clients. I've tried many of the prominent domain name registration services and utilize different ones for different reasons but will be condensing all of my domain names to only three. Yahoo, Godaddy and Enom. Using each for different reasons that are specific to each domain name but for the most part, I stick with Yahoo. I'll stop here unless someone is interested in hearing the "whys"
After the Registerfly incident I'm wary of going with random or 'the cheapest' registrar... Wouldn't mind reputable reseller from eNom or ResellerClub, but I prefer Godaddy and Namecheap... In regard to the the above, it was interesting to see which firms actually took the domains business seriously, and made that extra effort to make sure that the average domain owner got his/her domain back. Godaddy was one - I think they deserve a pad on the back for that.

One way to get godaddy domains cheaper is to become a reseller. You get your domain names at wholesale prices (usually around $6-$7) and you can also make money by selling domains to other people. There is an up-front cost but you can get up to $200 in google adwords and microsoft adcenter credits which kind of makes up for it and gets you a jump start on advertising your own storefront. Godaddy has reseller plans for $99 and $199 but we (reg2.us) are selling them right now for $69.99 and $159.99: http://www.reg2.us/resellers/become-your-own-registrar-with-reseller-acounts/ It's the same exact thing you get from godaddy (wild west domains), just cheaper. The whole storefront is automated and they do all the support for you, all you have to do is advertise it. Bill Bakker http://reg2.us
