That starts off at £60 which got my heart beating fast there but it goes up to £79 when you add delivery and VAT

Mine was £77.98 altogether lol. You nearly gave me a heart attack there I234244

Imagine being the battery company and knowing that the warranty is for 12 months. That would have to suck lol.

I was very fortunate. My labtop is used extensively so I would have been more than happy to pay for a new one but if they are going to offer me a free one so be it.

Yep, I think that's why mine has conked out. All of a sudden it just started making that noise that is similar to the noise an electric shaver makes when it is running out of power. lol

Glad to see you found a repacement. My one notebook has a nasty habit of keys breaking off, so I know the feeling of being w/o a notebook fully functioning, it's no fun at all :(

I just hope I got the right one now!

I will always worry about these things until it is actually working properly again. I hope it was just the battery conking out as well.

Is it working when directly powered via the charger unit?

No, it's still doing the same thing. I usually just work away with it plugged into the mains.

Is this bad news for me?

The "T" and the "Y" keys on mine done work when first switched on, after about 10 mins they begin to work. Someone mentioned it could be to do with dry joints, once they heat up they make a connection.

I'll be typing away and it was starting to make a funny whirring noise and when it made the noise it was starting to freeze up. The noise was coming from where the battery was. Sometimes when I balanced the laptop at a certain angle the whirring noise would stop for a while but it didn't last long.

Eventually the noise started getting worse and totally froze up then I turned it straight off using the off button. I figured if there's any power left in it the computer repair shop might be able to salvage something before it totally conks out.

I just got to thinking about it.

    Things I've broke this year:
    Bed
    Laptop
Cup holder in my gf's car
    Gf's toe
    jar of spaghetti sauce
    3 glasses
    cell phone

None of it out of anger either.

hmm could be wrong but possible hd or even a cpu/system fan going out and over heating? Never heard a battery failing make noise before in a laptop, especially not when plugged into a power source. Hd's going on in laptops though are very common 'at least in my experience' and they start to make a clunking noise, kind of like a razer dying in many cases before they totally die. I'd try backing up any files if possible just incase it's a hd.

It wasn't from being clumsy either.

Like the bed broke by doing naughty things on it.

My gf's toe broke because she kicked me really hard.

The cup holder was a little stuck so I just barely pulled on it and it came out.

    It's all stuff like that.
