Go Daddy is cheaper, but I flip domains and sites and they take longer to process than most. But if you are not a flipper than they are also a good choice.

GoDaddy is a legitimate business. They offer FREE Telephone tech support. You can call them at 3am and someone will answer the telephone. They have a real street address. And real business model.

NameCheap is a 2 bit reseller. Has not telephone tech support. You sent a support ticket and wait and hope that someone will get back to you. I read one account online where a guy used their online chat and it took them over an HOUR to get back to him.

NameCheap has no real business address. They use a mail box drop in Los Angeles. They hide from people. NameCheap was sued by a company for $100,000 because they screwed up their account and the company lost it's domain due to incompetence.

I have never heard of a GoDaddy law suit where GoDaddy botched something. There might be one but I haven't seen it.

The choice is Clear. Very clear.

    It depends on your needs.
I have many that require advanced DNS records, many that are nameservers, many that are business related, and many that are personal. I use Moniker for these.

And to those of you that suggest GoDaddy.... Did you know that GoDaddy publicaly supported the SOPA bill? Webmasters, sysops, and sysadmins have been pulling everything away from GoDaddy for that reason alone. Besides, it never was what I considered a professional registrar or hosting company. To me it looks like they mostly target the kid down the block that "NEEDS" a website for pictures of her cats.

By NOT opposing SOPA (even now. it simply said we wont support, but never said it opposes) GoDaddy clearly send signals to the webmasters that they are the ones who are going to act like a law enforcing agencies on behalf of Govt. I wonder why any webmaster or any individual would he/she likes to register a domain(s) with such an organization which consider Govt interest is their priority rather than their clients.

So... like thousands (some tens of thousands) did, I wish every one from DP at least would shift from GD permanently with immediate effect.

Though registration charges are reasonable (esp for dot in, co dot in, net) their renewal charges are above average market price.
Make sure that your registrar would not rip you off during renewals. Be wise, choose namesilo.com .

I buy from Namecheap. Its easy to use, looks easy on the eye whereas godaddy is a bit busy on my eye if you ask me. Ive had a good experience with Namecheap.

namecheap is very good if it would not rip you off during renewals. Just dont believe here it goes.
It offeres WHO is guard free for the first year.. but it costs 2.88 during renewals. It would not share parked domain revenue. Unless you own 50+ domains you are not eligible for renewal discounts.
Wonder why I should go for namecheap if its dot com domain.
