Where to begin learning Google Maps API

Hi All,

Have never worked with Google's Map API and would like to give it a shot and see if any of you had any recommendations as to where to start when working with it. Any of you have any good resources or anything that may help when diving into it? Or perhaps things that you have found helpful when working with it?

If your application needs to be lightweight and not too much interactive, use Google Static Map. It's easy. really
