Where to advertise comedy type website?!

So I have at least a general idea where to advertise most of my sites, but where should I advertise a website about comedy!?

My newest site, http://SayingsFunny.com is currently random funny pictures, and I will be adding several more features to the site. I think I will do some email marketing but only after I start getting people to sign up for them, for now I need forums or places to do link exchanges or something I dont know..

Im use to doing hosting related or business related sites!!

I think comedy forums and YouTube will be your best options! FaceBook ads will help a lot too, but if you do not want to spend money, then try article marketing. I am just naming some examples, but there are no limits!

There is no special technique to promote your comedy theme websites, you have to follow the same strategy that you follow with other sites.

Means do social bookmarking, social networking, directory submission, link building, banner exchange, article submission, micro-blogging, blogging, blog commenting, forum posting but with the best suited niche to your theme. and I am sure, you would get results.

Start a youtube channel and make slideshow videos.

Go take a look at some of the funny videos on youtube, some of them have gotten millions of views.

nothing special needs to be done, Onpage & Offpage would be the same for almost any niche
since, its a comedy website it will be relatively easy to promote through mailing lists because people most likely don't delete funny emails and they often forward them to there friends. using email lists you can drive some free traffic. signature links in comedy related forums would also be helpful & social bookmarking in sites like digg, stubleupon is also worth trying.

You can create a Facebook Fan/Business page as opposed to your Facebook personal page. Title it the same name as your website. Then do a search on Facebook for keywords that you would use on for your website. Example: "funny pictures". From the results of that Facebook search, you'll find other Facebook pages that you can "Like" and then do @<facebook name> postings on your Wall with relevant comments and pictures from your website. That appears on their page Wall (becasue of the command @<facebook name>. That will drive traffic to your Facebook Fan Page from their page and of course you will have a link to your website from your own Facebook page.

You can also run a contest using software like ContestBurner that gives away a couple of prizes that would interest your primary prospect group. I only mention ContestBurner because it can be set up to give people get more entries in your contest if they "Like" your Facebook page and do Facebook postings on their own Facebook pages about the contest. I helped get 294 Facebook fans to a new Facebook business page in 12 days by running a contest for a client that sold blue & white striped rugs. Not bad considering the extremely narrow niche of only blue & white stripe rug fans.

    Good luck.

Try entertainment forums - or youtube - post your videos - and link to your site in the description.

Watermark funny images and videos with your URL and spread them like crazy!! If you can get some of them to go viral you'll soon start to see a serious spike in traffic.

I agree that youtube would be the best for a comedy site. Get views by choosing the tags well and get ratings and comments. Good luck with the site!

YouTube and Facebook, both in terms of free promotion (Channel on YouTube, Company Page of Facebook) as well as potentially paid advertising targeting keywords (YouTube) and interest (Facebook) related to comedy. Consider Twitter to build visibility and as a distribution channel once following is built.
