Where to add content - index.html or news.html

I want to add content to my site as "...latests news and reviews". In terms of SEO, does it matter whether the content goes in my index.html file or a separate linked file in the same directory called news.html ?

A simple question for those who know....unfortunatley, I don't

It would be neater to put it in the separate file but I don't want to prejudice my ranking.

Any views on this?

 

if you are linking to any page... then its of no issue... if you are creating a new folder and placing a "news.html" i would rather suggest place "index.html" as this will be index file

 

All files will be in the same directory/folder together.

As you have said... all files will be in same folder... so it makes no difference... as per the file name is...

rather file name helps if the content of the filename matches... as you have given you want to make "news.html" then if it contains news and other news related programs... it will be nice...

thow a short version on index and link to the news. This will give you best coverage for visitors and SEs.

 

or put the latest news on index.html and old news on news.html may be good too.

 

Sounds sensible, it is all going on index.html and that is working in terms of search rankings, I just have a front page longer than Britney's drinks bill !
