Hello, apologies if posted in the wrong bit... I run a website design company with some colleagues and we are launching a new seo/web site management service for individuals and businesses. To spread the word on this new service we are looking for help promoting it on a CPA basis.

We do not need to go through the big networks as we will not have the volume for that but instead will track things ourselves.

Can we get people's opinion please as to the best places they would advertise this program in order to get people to sign up. it's free to join and for everyone you get to sign up to a one month management program which is $20 we will give you a one off fee of $10. Not a massive payout we admit however the low selling price should ensure a good conversation if the marketing is right

    thanks
    carl

I think that the single best thing you can start with doing is to post on forums where there are webmasters to let them know about your program.

I would highly suggest a tiered feature to encourage webmasters that find out to pick up the spreading of information about your program.

As for handling things yourselves, that could be a rough ride. You could see alot of skepticism and lack of trust if you are handling conversion reports. There would be little to stop you from mis-reporting to keep from having to give full payouts. If nothing else, start with a third party handling the tracking of it until you have a nice list of people promoting, then move to your own system. Some should stick with you and if you pay out honestly, you will likely get some good word-of-mouth going about how your affiliates are still being paid. Working with a third party to start can also help with that promotion problem a bit too.

If you start with a third party, I highly suggest that you look to switch when you are starting to see increases in conversions, not when they are decreasing. Even if you are honest and it is just the market, or the fault of an affiliate that they are performing poorly, you will likely have affiliates bad mouth you if conversions go south as you leave to handle your program in-house. Something as simple as 'when you leave' can make or break your program.
