Where should I put my ads?

Hey guys, I have a website at thelovequilt (dot) com with my adsense ads currently being places at the top. There really isn't anywhere else for me to put my ads given the layout of my page, so what do you guys think I should do? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think it depends on how you make money with Adsense. If your earning revenue with cpc it makes sense to keep it at the top, so people click the link and you get your share. However, if you're getting money for displaying the ad using cpm, then I would put it somewhere towards the bottom.

    Hope that helps!

Right now, I am earning from CPC. Am I able to change it to CPM?

I haven't been doing Google AdSense for much more than 18 months, however I have done quite a bit of experimentation and research and I've change things around more than once I can tell you. So far I have found that placing the following ads in these positions seems to work quite well. I put a 160 x 600 skyscraper ad above the left-hand menu, a 336 x 280 block ads below the title and above the first block of contents, and then the same block ad at the very bottom, just below the last piece of content (this gets a lot of clicks on my website). I have got several 728 x 90 banner ads which I primarily use on my forum, to be quite honest these don't get an awful lot of attention, not nearly as much as the ads on my article pages.

I am always looking for improvement, hence my recent post. Anyway, I hope that my input will help you a little bit. I might just add that success in AdSense really depends on how many visitors your website receives. Unless your ads pay a lot of money per click then you are going to need to generate a lot of traffic. My next monthly payment which I should receive shortly will be for exactly £250, not that much, but certainly worth the effort I have put into setting up AdSense on my websites

Thanks for the help! So I am allowed to insert multiple banners on my site? I think I want to add another one at the very bottom of the pages as well as the top, which is what I currently have.

You are allowed to put up to 3 of the same AdSense ads on each page. If you exceed three, then either it will not appear, or another one will disappear.

You should put your ads in a visible place, put it in the header section of the website . It will yield more results.

I mean the ads are currently pretty close to the header. Is that where it should be?

You will have to experiment but from my experience, placing an ad just above the first block of content does generate a lot of hits. Also, a skyscraper ad to the left just above the menu also generates lots of hits. But you also want a block ad at the very end of your content because the people who do read all of your content right to the bottom will be looking for something else to do, if you have some nice links there for them, the chances are they will click.

You should try placing your ad units at different places

    - add 3 blocks of same ad unit within the page
    - the 3 blocks in difference places
    - closer to the header
    - fake block within that squres , have ad only
