I am creating a website which will also have a blog to help generate traffic. There are 2 ways I am thinking of hosting it: www.mysite.com/blog or www.blog.mysite.com But which option is better for SEO purposes? Does it matter?
Hi Friend, I think this Type URL would be ok to create for Blog. but if you are confuse about seo so you know very well about SEO Structure, depends on quality content and Strong back links ........... best of luck, John
I would go for site.com/blog... Personally I consider sub-domains old-fashioned. As for SEO - I think it should be the same... Haven't heard anyone mentioning that one option is better than the other.
This is correct, neither of the two proposed ideas have any more value than the other, it's purely a cosmetic issue; not SEO.
I agree! If you have a business domain and want to have a bit of a blog I would use a sub domain. If it matches up with the site I would use the folder format. Neither will really make a different with SEO.
ha, i just asked this question in another thread, thanks for the answers on another note: would it be worth registering brand-new domains (pointing to the original site) just to target specific keywords? Sorry to thread hijack.
I think if these domains were relevent I cannot see the harm in it, this is if they have like a competitors name but slightly mis spelt or something
on another note: would it be worth registering brand-new domains (pointing to the original site) just to target specific keywords? Sorry to thread hijack. Nopes !!
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Ive opted to to have the blog hosted on a subdirectory as opposed to the sub domain. I did a little reading on the subject after posting this question, and I discovered that yes, it doesnt really make a difference where you host the blog. Though it is slightly easier to maintain, if you put the blog in a sub directory. Thanks again.
