Hi jota - have you tried cashing the Google cheque at another bank?
Google payments are from Citibank in Delaware USA and the funds are in US dollars.
I don't understand why your bank would not process that cheque for you?
I'm almost positive that a Google cheque would not bounce due to insuficient funds. :D

Hopefully another bank will give you your cash.

Portugese and Korean banks must be Yahoo fans or something.

jota - do you have an american express credit card? If so take the check to the closest AmX office and they may cash it for you there. I have always found AmX to be helpful re currency exchange matters wherever I am in Europe or elsewhere.

I think you have to look for banks that accepts CITIBANK US Cheques because some banks have different international partners.

the thing is the cheque is payable in US dollars. It would be good for Google to offer people different currency, not everyone lives in the US.

Anyway, the problem is that the amount may be too low. They can convert the cheque to your currency, but may charge you a fee. I think in England it's around 15 pounds and HK about 5%. I think you should look around the different banks and you might find one which can offer to convert.

I suggest to open an account that is CITIBANK partner or open a CITIBANK account if possible.
