Hi Digital Pointers, I'am having a somewhat difficult problem and hope that you can help me. As I'am from germany I have a german IP adress but my websites are in english language and mostly visited by US visitors. So my website is ranking good at google and my statistic tool gives me different keywords I get visitors from. Problem is now that because my IP is from germany I can't see the same results lika an american at google :-(. I even tried to go to google.com and switch language to only english but didn't work well. For example I get traffic from keywords I can't find myself even in the top 100 placement... So anyone knows how I can view the "real" SERPs for a US user? Thanks, Stefan
Go here and search via this tool. you can see any country specific google results http://oyoy.eu/google/world/
I think you must do changes according to the region you're targeting towards. Mention your hosting location and then take steps accordingly.
Uhm exactly such a Tool I was searching for, but... it does not work when I try to use "United States" in left window it just displays a blank page. Can anyone help? Am I too stupid to use the tool? :X Hu what do you mean? Problem is that in the google preferences I can change Language but NOT the country/location :-(.
Altrit the tool is broken do one thing install Rank checker addon in firefox from here http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/rank-checker/ after installing and restarting firefox Go to Tools > Addons click on Rank checker Addon OPTION. From here you can select what country results you want to see. Now I deserve some good rep points for this
There was this post about usa search results. Basically, you use hidemyass.com and just go to google.com. This always does the trick for me. Red this if you don't want to start earning red points http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1112065 Just a friendly warning
We are all friends, aren't we? ^^ You both got some rep . But listen :-( the trick with the SERPs worked BUT now it gets really fuzzy: I get visitors for a key I'am not ranking for :X. How could that be? I have 85% US, 10% UK and 5% other visitors... so I first checked if it could be search queries from UK but there were more search requests on keywords I don't rank for then UK visitors... I won't complain about extra visitors but I feel very unsure about these "magic" traffic please help! Anyone have the same "magic traffic"? Where is this from?
Do you use Google Webmaster Tools? It gives you the most popular search queries you rank for - it should give you some idea. Those tools can be accessed from your Google account (e-mail or adsense).
Hey tankard - yes I use webmaster tools and they say me best query is a keyword where I rank on place 125!!! :-( Can anyone help? lol
To see results from other countries you could use the tool google provides for adwords users - https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool
satzzeichen, To see the results as if you're actually searching from inside the US, append &gl=US to the address of Google's result page (or Google's homepage). For example, here's how the address of my homepage looks like: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en&gl=US If the gl=US variable is the first variable in the address, then be sure to append ?gl=US instead of &gl=US. An interrogation mark "?" instead of the ampersand "&". There's also a handy extension for Firefox if you don't want to manually do this. It's called Google Global. I hope I helped.
Just save yourself the trouble and visit Google via a U.S. proxy. Most proxy directories will have what you need.
Why use a slow proxy when you can use a Firefox extension or add the gl=US variable? You just add it once and bookmark it, no need to type it every single time you google.
In your webmaster tool account, just below the list of top search queries, you may download details about those queries. These details show you which google (ggle.com, ggle.de, ggle.co.uk, ggle.cn...) is concerned.
Your suggestion is great, as long as you only have 1 keyword or query string that you are checking. Butif you have multiples, you would need to either bookmark them all, or you would have to retype them each time, along with the GL value. Using a proxy the workflow is much more natural and familiar. I hope that helps.
You like using proxies, that's great. But the way you described using the gl=US thing is wrong. You don't have to type it for every query. Once you type it, it'll be there in all the results pages after that. The only case where I have to type it or use the Google Global extension, is when I click on a google search link on forums and such. How often does that happen? I do keyword research everyday, and I never have to type it, because I already did that ages ago.
just open google.com if url is being redirected to google. de then there will be a option for go to google.com click there you will be on Google US or use safari
Being on google.com doesn't mean that you'll get results from data centers from the US. You'll still get results from your area's data centers unless you use one of the methods above.
