Heed this advice. It's worth the extra dollar or two to use a trusted and reliable registrar. Here are my top three choices:

    mydomain.com: $7.01 with coupon: dgc2lt76qhv0
domainsite.com: $6.99 but doesn't include URL or email forwarding
    namecheap.com: $8.88

netfirms is pretty good as a registar if you want to keep the domain, I have no idea how to do a push though.

I sign up with virtual credit cards, and just hand over the account if I sell a site that I have regged there.

My daughter just finished comparing some providers and went with GoDaddy. And they practically give you the domain if you sign up for hosting.

Godaddy is ok. I have all my domains with them and they’ve never given me any problems.

Me, too. Their prices are good. They never seem to be "down". I've had nothing but good experience with them for three years. That's why I steered my daughter to them to open her new domain.

How long does it take to transfer a domain after you've purchased from Godaddy to your host?

Well the method is that you setup a seperate sub account for the domain and push it into that account. You then provide your buyer with the login and password for that account.

Overall I also put in a vote for domainsite.com.. Easy, cheap and dont spam you like good old Gdaddy

If you have some cash to put into your account, you can get an eNom Reseller account (requires > $100 deposit) and you will get domains for ~$7.

Aside from that, I would go with NameCheap. They have been very reliable (for me, at least).
